Něco je sakramentsky špatného a zkaženého v malém městečku v oblasti Midwiche. Poté, co do městečka vtrhal neviditelná moc, zjišťují místní ženy, že jsou z ničeho nic těhotné. Na stopu tomu všemu se snaží přijít místní psychiatr (Christopher Reeve) a vládní scientoložka (Kirstie Alley), protože narozené děti terorizují městečko. Podaří se jim přijít na kloub všem mysterickým porodům?
