Secrets in the Walls (2010)

Rachel Easton is happy to settle into a new house with her two daughters, but her new dream home turns into a nightmare when an undeniably evil force begins to make its presence known, and the ghostly sightings at the Easton residence quickly progress from eerie scratches and distant moans, to the appearance of a malevolent female figure, who threatens to end the life that Rachel has worked so hard for through malevolent metaphysical power.

Rachel (Ryan) is a single mother of two, who decides to purchase a house in the suburbs, beginning a new life after her divorce. Her brother, Marty (Ian Kahn), is there to lend Rachel and her daughters-sixteen year old Lizzy (Panabaker) and her youngest daughter Molly (List)-a helping hand with moving into their new home. Rachel begins a new job at a hospital and becomes friends with Belle, a nurse who is also a psychic medium-or a person who speaks with the dead. What a coincidence, because it seems that Rachel will be needing one.

Within Rachel's new home there is a basement, and within that basement there is a wall, and within that wall is something that is "the source of 'a spirit,'" drawn to Rachel's oldest daughter, Lizzie. Predictably, the house holds a "horrifying secret" of fifty years, and it will take a mother's love and a psychic medium to remedy the problem. I am sure you can guess what happens next so I will spare you by not going any further with the details of a haunting, a possession, and all of the other aspects of a predictable plot, as I have already said too much. However, I will commend the special effects and make-up work of the ghostly visitor (Jordan Trovillion), and the solid worried and concerned mother performance by Jeri Ryan.
